At the Ibsen Museum in Grimstad, you can become better acquainted with the world's greatest playwright, Henrik Ibsen. Join our knowledgeable guides on an exclusive journey back to Henrik's unknown youth as an apprentice pharmacist in Grimstad! Here he began his career as a playwright. Learn about his stormy love affairs, unwanted fatherhood, and social engagement that he shared with his close friends. A unique opportunity to experience the original pharmacy and guard room where Ibsen wrote his very first work, Catilina.
Note! It is mandatory to enter the museum with a guide. We have guided tours every day at 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 (11 AM, 12 PM, 1 PM, 2 PM, and 3 PM). Each tour can accommodate up to 15 people.
The tours at 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM are in English.
Your ticket to the Ibsen Museum also gives you free entry to the summer exhibition about Knut Hamsun at the Hamsun Museum upon presenting your ticket. The exhibition can be explored independently and is open daily from June 22 to August 10, from 11 AM to 4 PM.
