At the Ibsen Museum in Grimstad, you can get to know the world's greatest playwright, Henrik Ibsen. Join our knowledgeable guides on an exclusive journey back to Henrik's lesser-known youth as a pharmacy apprentice in Grimstad — where he began his career as a playwright. Hear about his turbulent romances, an unwanted fatherhood, and the social engagement he shared with his closest friends. A unique opportunity to experience the original pharmacy and guardroom where Ibsen wrote his very first work, Catilina.
Please note: A guided tour is required to enter the museum. Tours run daily at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00, with a maximum of 15 people per tour. The 12:00 and 15:00 tours are in English.
Your Ibsen Museum ticket also grants free entry to the summer exhibition about Knut Hamsun at the Hamsun Museum, upon presentation of your ticket. The exhibition is self-guided and open every day from 21 June – 9 August, 11:00–16:00.
